There have been many great games in Australian Football history since the code first originated in 1858.
But if there was a list of the greatest games ever played in Australian Football, which ones would make the cut?
And which game would make to no.1?
The Carlton v Collingwood 1970 AFL Grand Final; the 1973 Glenelg-North Adelaide SANFL Grand Final; or the 1997 East Fremantle-Sth Fremantle Grand Final?
Or should it be the games from the classic era of State of Origin – 1982-89 – such as the 1984 South Australia-Victoria game, or the 1986 West Australia-Victorian game?
Here are my nominations for the top 10 games in Australian Football history:
1. 1970 AFL Grand Final Carlton v Collingwood
2. 1986 State of Origin Western Australia v Victoria
3. 1973 SANFL Grand Final Glenelg v North Adelaide
4. 1977 AFL Grand Final North Melb. v Collingwood (the draw)
5. 1989 AFL Grand Final Hawthorn v Geelong
6. 2001 AFL Round 16 North Melb v Essendon
7. 1966 AFL Grand Final St Kilda v Collingwood
8. 1937 AFL Grand Final Geelong v Collingwood
9. 1984 State of Origin Sth Australia v Victoria
10. 1984 AFL Grand Final-Essendon v Hawthorn
