The Matildas participate in various women’s competitions throughout the calendar year. Here, you can find all upcoming Matildas fixtures, as well as recent results.
The Matildas began 2023 with an undefeated run to claim the Cup of Nations, beating Jamaica and the Czech Republic on either side of a stirring 3-2 triumph over Spain.
But their year was dominated by a storied run through their home Women’s World Cup, in which they rebounded from a shock group stages loss to Nigeria to reach the tournament’s semi-finals, on the way securing memorable wins over Canada (4-0) and then France in a dramatic quarter-final decided by a crazy penalty shootout.
However, the Matildas would lose a tense semi-final to England 3-1, and then the third-place play-off 2-0 to Sweden.
Their year finishes with three Paris Olympics qualifying clashes in Perth.
Needing to top their group of four, the Matildas recorded a 2-0 win over Iran, an 8-0 thrashing of the Philippines at a sold out Optus Stadium, before a 3-0 win over Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) saw them progress to the third round of qualifying, to be held in February. There, the Matildas will face Uzbekistan in two legs, one home and one away, with the winner to book a ticket to Paris.
The Philippines match was moved from HBF Park to Optus Stadium due to high demand for tickets.
Currently the Matildas are ranked 11th on FIFA’s international ladder.
The upcoming Matildas fixtures will be broadcast live on Channel 10, Paramount+ and 10Play.
