The Prince who never was

What more does Scott Prince have to do to gain selection in the Queensland State Of Origin team? It would seem that being the form player in the NRL for close to 18 months simply isn’t enough!

The top of the table form of the Gold Coast Titans and Prince’s purple patch are more than a coincidence. To prove this all one has to do is look at the marked drop in form of the Wests Tigers upon his departure at the conclusion of the 2006 season.

The fact that the Queensland selectors have been willing to gamble on the largely untried Karmichael Hunt in the second receiver position in the all-important Origin opener would suggest sinister motives on their part.

One may ask the question, is Prince being punished by the Queensland selectors for leaving the Broncos, the jewel in the QRL crown, at the end of 2004 after a horror run of injuries?

The fact that he is so consistently overlooked for representative honours would indicate yes.

It would seem that the Queensland selectors are hell-bent on relinquishing the Origin crown to NSW in this year’s series, with them seemingly ignoring the call of the world’s best player at the moment.

We can only hope that the Queensland selectors come to their senses and select Prince in games 2 and 3.

NSW to win!
