Exciting young Brisbane centre Jack Reed is reportedly set to turn his back on playing for Queensland and Australia by choosing to turn out for England in this year’s Four Nations tournament.
The 23-year-old who was born in Yorkshire, moved to Australia when he was two and has enjoyed a stellar rookie season for the Broncos.
His form has seen he earmarked for a spot in the Queensland’s emerging State of Origin squad next year.
However, a report in the Courier Mail, claimed Reed is keen to play for England in the Four Nations, which kicks off next month, and could be named in coach Steve McNamara’s train-on squad this weekend should Brisbane lose their NRL finals clash with St George Illawarra.
Australian Rugby League chief executive Geoff Carr told the Courier Mail he believed Reed would play for England, although he had yet to be officially informed of his plans.
“I have had a substantial number of emails from Jack Reed’s manager and it appears the English coach is very keen on him,” Carr said.
“We should know by the weekend what Reed intends doing.”
