In a weekend full of blockbusters, this has to be one of the biggest. Collingwood and Hawthorn are set to clash in front of a packed MCG. We’ll have live scores and updates from 1.45pm AEST.

It may very well prove to be one of the games of the season. It could even be a Grand Final preview.

Collingwood, at 12-3, and Hawthorn, at 11-4, are both inside the top four and genuine premiership threats.

Although the Pies have been the more consistent side this season, the Hawks form of late has been ominous and their percentage (a whopping 157) is by far the league’s best.

Collingwood last week disposed of Geelong with a convincing 31-point win in wet conditions. They’d practically sealed the game by half time, where they were 46 points up.

Dane Swan, Dayne Beams and Scott Pendlebury all had 36 touches or more, while Dale Thomas made up for a lack of disposals with three goals. Chris Tarrant spent time up forward with some success.

The result was the perfect response to the shock loss a week earlier against Carlton.

Hawthorn, meanwhile, played out their second confidence-boosting win in a row, defeating the Western Bulldogs by 72 points.

Josh Gibson and Grant Birchall led the way from down back, while Sam Mitchell racked up 34 disposals and a goal. Jack Gunston did his job up forward with four goals. Usual defender Ryan Schoenmakers also did well in the absence of Lance Franklin, booting two majors.

The Hawks were coming off their 162-point demolition of the GWS Giants a week earlier.

Tom Young and Paul Seedsman are the two ins for the Pies, replacing Marty Clarke and Simon Buckley. The Hawks have made no change.
