Melbourne Renegades will be up against the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League at Etihad Stadium tonight. We’ll have live scores from 7.00pm AEDT.

The Strikers have kept themselves in the top four but only just, with three teams above them and possessing more wins.

With only three games remaining for them, the result of this one could assume crucial proportions – both in term of their position and momentum going into the final couple of matches.

Their opponents and hosts, the Renegades are one of those three, and are coming off their first defeat in the tournament.

That loss followed four successive victories for the Renegades that took them to the top spot in the points table before having to settle for the second spot for now.

Interestingly, the Strikers haven’t played since December 27, allowing them an extended break over the festivities.

While the rest should help the players’ aching limbs, it can also serve to disrupt their rhythm, a factor captain Johan Botha will be very concerned about.

The Renegades are heavily dependent on the runs from their captain’s blade as was seen in their previous loss.

Aaron Finch’s failure against the Perth Scorchers coupled with a poor show with the ball from likes of Nathan Rimmington and Darren Pattinson led to a heavy, 51-run defeat, one that the Renegades will like to reverse.

Kane Richardson’s bowling for the Strikers and the batting of Marlon Samuels for the Renegades could be the tilting factors in this game, one in which the winner will go to the top of the points table.

We will bring you the live coverage throughout the game from Etihad Stadium in Melbourne and hope to receive your opinions as the action unfolds from 7.00pm AEDT.
