The Lions are coming! It’s only 129 days until the British and Irish Lions and the Wallabies square off in a match for the first time in 12 years.

A Lions tour is something that sticks in the mind. It is historic, rare and it is hard to forget where you were when the last one was played out. There have been so many titanic performances.

Below are the current Wallabies memories from the last Lions tour. As Tatafu Polota Nau explains that he was just getting his first real taste of rugby in year ten at school, see if you can remember what you were doing when the Lions were last in town:

It will be a mere 12 years since the Wallabies defeated the Lions at Stadium Australia in Sydney on the back of Dan Herbert’s two tries.

The opening Test of the 2013 series will again be played in Brisbane, but this time at Suncorp Stadium instead of the Gabba.

The Wallabies have turned Suncorp into a fortress recently and will have to hope it stays that way. An assassin wearing Red was on the other side when they dealt a painful blow to the Wallabies last time out – Brian O’Driscoll.

He is truly a titanic figure of International rugby. Barring injury he will be on the plane to Australia to repeat his trip of 12 years ago – a true Lion great and synonymous with Lions rugby.

The last Lions tour to Australia before 2001 came right back in 1989. That is far too long ago to count the days – but not so far as to forget that it was the last victorious Lions tour to these shores.

That team was physical and intimidating and did enough to win the decisive third Test by a single point, the physicality built into great fighters such as Paul Ackford.

A losing side didn’t prevent another Wallaby great from shining through in that series. Michael Lynagh is still the benchmark when it comes to points in the Wallabies gold jersey.

He was the man responsible for kicking so many of the Wallabies during the nailbiting tussle.
