Although the Premier League title is out of reach, Manchester United would love nothing more than to deal a huge blow to Manchester City‘s title aspirations when the Red Devils host their crosstown rivals at Old Trafford. Join us for live scores and commentary from 6:45am AEDT.

United have bounced back very well from their poor defeat to Liverpool almost two weeks ago and will be primed for a big performance against City.

The Red Devils are coming off strong wins against Olympiakos and West Ham in the Champions League and Premier League respectively – results that have relieved the pressure somewhat on under-fire manager David Moyes.

Wayne Rooney is starting to find his best form and will need to be kept in check by the City defence today. Rooney scored a cracking goal against West Ham from the halfway line last week and approaches the match against City with plenty of confidence.

United, however, are without Robin van Persie, who is out for at least a month due to a sprained knee. His absence is a telling blow for United’s hopesgiven that the Dutchman starred against Olympiakos in the Champions League.

Without van Persie, United forwards Rooney and Danny Welbeck will have to play very well if they hope to cause City problems.

City are coming off a resounding 5-0 win over Fulham and remain well on course to secure another Premier League title given they have games in hand over their rivals.

If United hope to cause the upset, they will have to keep Yaya Toure quiet. Toure is the general of a strong City midfield. If he fires, City will most likely go on and win.

With Toure coming off a hat-trick against Fulham, the Ivorian certainly has the form on the board to lead City to victory today.

City to win 3-1.
