The grand final rematch promises to be a cracker as the Sydney Roosters take on the Manly Sea Eagles at Allianz Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7.30pm AEDT.

Both Sydney and Manly left it late last week to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against Brisbane and Parramatta respectively.

Despite winning two of their three matches thus far, the Roosters and Sea Eagles are yet to hit peak form this season; they will be keen to fire tonight in the grand final rematch.

Manly, in particular, will be desperate to end a four-match losing streak against Sydney.

The Sea Eagles failed to topple the Roosters in four matches last season (five including a trial match) and need a win today to prove they remain the real deal this season.

The Roosters often played their very best football against Manly last season and they will need another strong effort to secure two competition points tonight.

Trent Robinson’s men however have struggled to replicate their strong defensive performances from last season, having conceded 28-points against the Rabbitohs and 26-points against Brisbane.

Even though the Roosters regrouped well to get out of jail against the Broncos last week, Sydney need to play with more intensity if they hope to topple the Sea Eagles.

Tonight’s contest may just be what the Roosters need to rediscover the defensive resolve that served them so well last season.

Anything less than a complete performance from the Roosters will allow Manly to dominate up front.

In good news for Manly, Kieran Foran makes his return to the line-up but Brett Stewart remains sidelined with injury.

Stewart’s absence does rob Manly of much-needed direction in attack.

The Sea Eagles haven’t been too convincing with the ball in hand without their star fullback and may once again struggle to post points if the Roosters show up with their best football.

Prediction
If past matches between the two are anything to go by, expect a physical, high-quality contest. The Roosters at home however may just prove too strong.

Roosters by 6.
