MATCH RESULT:

The South Sydney Rabbitohs secured an impressive win against the league leading Manly Sea Eagles at the SCG on Friday night NRL.

The opening ten minutes saw Manly dictate terms. From the moment Turner scored for the bunnies however, South Sydney dominated physically and outmuscled Manly.

The Sea Eagles did well to hang in for as long as they did but the Rabbitohs were too strong upfront.

The Burgess brothers were superb. Reynolds and Keary solid in the halves. Luke very good at dummy-half. Inglis very good as well.

The Premiership race is well and truly on.

FINAL SCORE:
Rabbitohs 23
Sea Eagles 4

Recent contests between South Sydney and Manly have been tough affairs and tonight should be no different.

Both teams are on course to finish inside the top two and a win for either side will provide a huge momentum boost heading into the finals.

A win for the Sea Eagles tonight should wrap up the minor premiership. Despite the off-field drama surrounding the club, Manly continue to roll up their sleeves and get the job done, as evidenced by their win over Brisbane last week.

The Sea Eagles were pushed hard by the Broncos but eventually produced enough class to secure the two competition points.

South Sydney on the other hand had a much easier time of it against Newcastle.

The Rabbitohs piled on 50 points against a Knights side that showed enormous defensive resolve against the Roosters a week earlier.

The fascinating thing about the Rabbitohs is that they are comfortably inside the top four without having played their best football so far this season.

Tonight’s contest against the Sea Eagles will provide a much better indication of whether or not South Sydney can truly challenge for the premiership.

One player that could decide the Rabbitohs’ fate is Adam Reynolds. The Rabbitohs half takes centre stage against arguably the best halves combination in the NRL.

Reynolds is a talented footballer but can he can produce the clutch plays needed to guide South Sydney home?

With Manly half Daly Cherry-Evans in fine form, anything less than a complete performance by Reynolds will see the Sea Eagles take this contest.

Manly by 6.
