The West Coast Eagles host the Melbourne Demons at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:40pm (AEST).

The Demons slumped to a new low last week when they went down to the Giants by 64-points at the MCG.

Despite still residing at the bottom of the ladder, Melbourne have produced some impressive wins in 2014, along with some gallant losses.

The match last week against a fellow cellar dweller was a crucial opportunity for the Dees to show they were a class above their position on the ladder.

Unfortunately, instead of consolidating the good work they have done in 2014, the Demons imploded, raising questions about what the next step for the club could be.

The Eagles also suffered a disappointing loss last round, giving up a 34-point lead to go down to the Bombers by just 3 points.

To add insult to injury, the loss effectively ended the Eagles chance at play finals – a feat that appeared increasingly likely during the games’ third term.

This week the Eagles return to Patersons Stadium for what will be their final home game of the 2014 season.

With club favourite Dean Cox announcing his retirement earlier in the season, the fans will be out in numbers to cheer him on, and his team mates will be inspired to provide a decent send off.

The Eagles will also be boosted by the return of Mark LeCras – he has been posting career best numbers this season, and should be hungry to feature heavily tonight.

Co-captain, Jack Grimes is the key out for a Melbourne side who enter this match as huge underdogs.

A 10-goal loss to the Giants was hard to swallow, but unless Paul Roos has worked some serious magic this week, the Dees could be looking at a far greater margin against a resurgent Eagles outfit tonight.
