The Hobart Hurricanes will take on the Northern Knights in the ninth match of the Champions League t20 2014 at Raipur on Tuesday and you can follow the live blog of this T20 starting 12.30 am AEST.

These are two teams, which enter this game high on confidence.

The Hurricanes managed to commit a heist in their encounter with the Cape Cobras on Sunday. Needing 44 to win from three overs, the Hobart Hurricanes seemed to be up against it when Aiden Blizzard was dismissed off the second ball of the 18th over.

The third umpire was consulted before they decided the bowler had over-stepped and Blizzard went on to take 24 from that over. And then he smacked Charl Langeveldt for 21 in the 19th over to win a game in which they always looked behind the eight-ball.

The Knights are in a league of their own given the way they have played so far in the competition. Needing to come through the qualifiers in the competition, they won all those matches to make the main draw in the Champions League t20.

And as if to prove those wins were no fluke, the Knights wasted no time in crushing the Cobras in their opener.

Led by one of the more talented batsman of current times, Kane Williamson’s century, they made 5/206 in their 20 overs and then restricted their opponents to 2/44 in 7.2 overs when the rains came down.

The Hurricanes will know that the Knights are dependent on their opening pair and heavily at that. In Williamson and Anton Devcich they have two batsmen who don’t take as much risk as most other T20 openers and still get their team off to a flier – a luxury the Knights possess.

Hobart will look to stifle the partnership as one of their plans, and force them into playing out of their box by taking more risks. How they do that will be a question given the number of runs they have already conceded in this competition – Punjab chased down 145 in less than 18 overs while Cobras had scored 184 as well.

The good news for the Hurricanes is that their batting came good after a below-par display in their opener. Probably hit by rust, the Hurricanes failed to convert their starts in the first game but it was an error they overcame in the second – both Blizzard and Dunk hit half-centuries.

Lest the Hurricanes take the Northern Knights bowling for granted, it has only been a dazzling display by their batsmen that has overshadowed the Kiwi attack this competition. Trent Boult’s six wickets have come at an average of 8.83 while Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi and Scott Styris have all conceded around 6-6.5 an over.
