Sydney Roosters have bolstered their forward stocks ahead of the 2015 NRL season with the signing of well-travelled utility Lagi Setu.
The 26-year-old joins the Roosters on a one-year contract from Canberra, after being released from the final year of his contract with the Raiders.
Recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan said Setu was an important addition to the Tricolours roster.
“Lagi is a back-rower with terrific footwork, power and speed off the mark, and he will add some great depth to our NRL squad,” O’Sullivan said in a statement on Thursday.
Setu has played 71 NRL games since 2007 with St George Illawarra, Brisbane, Melbourne and the Raiders.
He undertook a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Birmingham, England starting in 2011.
The former Samoa representative joins ex-Rooster prop Martin Kennedy at the Eastern Suburbs-based club for next season.
Kennedy was confirmed as a Roosters recruit last week following an unsuccessful one-year stint with the Broncos last season.
