The Brisbane Heat‘s season is done and dusted however the Hobart Hurricanes finals door remains ajar.

The Heat have never got going in this tournament. The defining game may have been when the Hurricanes chased down a massive score in Hobart; they don’t seem to have recovered from that.

The Hurricanes head to Brisbane to repeat the dose. In fact it could be similar to last year when the Hurricanes won both games in high-scoring affairs.

It is a like a final for the Hurricanes they have to win to have any chance of making the top four. Even then they need to sit back afterwards and watch the remaining games hoping the results go their way.

Inconsistent form has hampered this campaign and they only have themselves to blame if it doesn’t work out.

The Hurricanes lose George Bailey and Xavier Doherty to national duties and will replace them with Birt and possibly Gulbis. On the other hand the Heat have regained Joe Burns.

It will be the last game for Freddy Flintoff, a popular import for the Heat. His presence has far outweighed his on-field performance but I’m sure the dressing room has benefited.

The Hurricanes imports have been good. Both Malik and Bresnan have added something particularly to their bowling in recent games.

Michael Hill has been a good inclusion for the Hurricanes and together with Ben Dunk and Jon Wells will go about setting another big total.

Despite their losses the Heat still have top line performers. Forrest, Reardon and Lynn are capable of anything with the bat and in Hopes and Christian Brisbane have two of the better all rounders in the series.

The Hurricanes first and foremost have to win. If victory becomes apparent they then need to also consider their run rate as they could very well end up even on points with other teams.

PREDICTION: Hurricanes to win and continue their domination of the Heat.

Can Freddy send out the Gabba crowd with a smile on their face or will the Hurricanes continue to tease their fans with a win to make them wait to see how future results pan out?
