Sixteen year old schoolboy sprinter Jack HaleHale clocked an outstanding time of 10.50 seconds with a 0.1m per second tailwind, clearing second placed Jacob Despard by a solid .40 seconds.
The sixteen year old said he was happy with his time, and is looking forward to his challenge when he travels to Newcastle next week for the Hunter Track Classic.
“I’m really happy with it and really keen to get into Newcastle next week,” he said.
In September of last year, Hale made headlines when he broke the national hundred-metre record with a time of 10.44 seconds.
Then, in October, Australia’s fastest kid broke his own record by 0.02 seconds, setting the current best time at 10.42 seconds.
Hale clocked an incredible time of 10.13 seconds when he won gold in the All School Track and Field Championships last month, however his time would not replace the current record time due to the aid of an illegal tailwind.
Hale is as multi-talented as he is fast, and aims to win gold in both the sprint and the long jump events at the World Juniors in Colombia later this year.
Jack Hale’s personal best jump in the long jump is an impressive 7.66 metres.
Hale has become a household name around Australia, and the fastest kid in Oz has been tipped to make it big on the world stage.
His coach Rex Morriss is happy with the progress Hale is making, and believes that the schoolboy sensation is on the right track with his training.
“I think everything is pointing to faster times for him in the coming months and for him to be jumping further with the speed he has,” Morriss said.
Jack Hale is an exciting prospect for track-and-field, and is well on his way to becoming a world class sprinter in the coming years.
