Ange won't talk transfers with Socceroos

The Socceroos’ transfer targets won’t get any advice from coach Ange Postecoglou.

Several Australians including Tim Cahill, Mat Ryan and Massimo Luongo are believed to be fielding offers from other clubs.

Postecoglou insisted before the Asian Cup that all his players put their personal ambitions on the backburner until after Saturday night’s final against South Korea.

Beyond that, he’s not offering advice.

“I haven’t and I don’t speak to the players about their club positions,” Postecoglou told reporters on Friday.

“All we can do is give them an opportunity at international level and give them an opportunity to represent their country.

“Beyond that, each player has an individual decision about what is going to be the best for their careers.”

Cahill has been linked with Asian clubs while English Premier League heavyweight Liverpool are reportedly keen on goalkeeper Ryan.

And Luongo’s stocks are soaring with his English third-tier outfit Swindon Town fielding offers from Turkey and Spanish club Sevilla, according to Swindon media.

“Somebody like Massimo, it has been teaching him the last 12 months what international football is all about and he’s starting to understand it,” Postecoglou said.

“He needs to push along and we’ll push him along to be the best footballer he can be.

“But in terms of their own personal careers, they’re in the best place to make those decisions, whether it’s move, whether it’s stay.

“My job is to make sure that when their form warrants it, they get an opportunity to represent their country again.”
