The second round of the 2015 Challenge Cup was played over the weekend, once again showing strong signs for amateur rugby league.

The second round was riddled with controversy after it was revealed that two clubs – Rochdale Mayfield and Hull Dockers – had been expelled after being found guilty of fielding ineligible players during the first round.

Great Britain Police and Leigh Miners Rangers replaced the two clubs in the second round.

Notable teams that have been knocked out of the Challenge Cup this week are Walney Central, Egremont Rangers, Siddal and Royal Navy.

It will be interesting to see how much the professional teams can shake up the amateur sides and whether Coventry Bears will look forward to a great maiden season. I’m looking forward to another spectacular round of Challenge Cup action.

The draw for the third round of the Challenge Cup will be conducted by Rugby League Hall of Fame members Alex Murphy MBE and Malcolm Reilly OBE at Heritage Quay on Wednesday, February 18, 6.00am (AEDT).

The third round will take place over the weekend of March 7-8 and will welcome the fourteen League One teams.

Stay tuned to the comments section as I will post the draw for the third round of the Challenge Cup after it has been released. Also please let me know if you want me to continue to post my wraps for the Super League and Challenge Cup as it seems they aren’t getting much support.
