Scoreline: Sea Eagles 24-22 Storm

Another classic at Brookvale Oval sees Manly prevail 24-22 over Melbourne. The Storm were down 24-6 at halftime but they rallied very well in the second half and it was just a missed conversion from Smith that proved the difference in the end. Manly will get a lot of confidence from this win despite their scoreless second half. Cherry-Evans with a great first half. Stewart with a double. Sea Eagles yet again soaring after a tough week.

Match Preview

It’s been a horror week for the Manly Sea Eagles but they will have to put all the drama aside if they hope to beat rivals the Melbourne Storm at Brookvale Oval. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 7:30pm AEDT.

The Sea Eagles are in crisis following news that representative halves Daly Cherry-Evans is leaving the club to join the Gold Coast Titans, with Kieran Foran said to be joining the Parramatta Eels.

There is even suggestions that Cherry-Evans could play out the rest of this season with the Gold Coast.

Throw in a heavy defeat to rivals Parramatta and Manly’s run at the premiership is deteriorating quickly.

Despite the club’s issues on and off the field, Manly should still put up a competitive showing against Melbourne at Brookvale Oval.

The Sea Eagles are traditionally very difficult to beat when playing at home and the Storm will have to produce another solid performance to remain undefeated.

The Storm are coming off a scrappy 12-4 victory over the Dragons away from home. Despite being nowhere near their best, Melbourne still got the job done and Craig Bellamy would have been pleased with the way his team defended against St George Illawarra.

Manly are a much better attacking unit than the Dragons but the Storm will fancy their chances of keeping the Sea Eagles at bay, especially with Foran out of the side.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Sea Eagles cope with the adversity they have experienced so far this year.

Their defence was extremely poor against Parramatta and that shows that attitude and belief are down compared to previous years.

If Storm trio Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater can play the percentages well, their class and experience should lead Melbourne to victory over a Sea Eagles outfit dealing with plenty of problems.
