Saturday Night in Townsville always brings the best out of the Cowboys, and this week it’s the Knights that face the tough trip. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 9:00pm.

The Cowboys didn’t start their season all that well, taking a heavy loss to The Roosters in Round 1.

With back-to-back home games to start the season, anything less than a win against Newcastle could already hamper their Top 4 hopes for this season. Coach Paul Green will be looking for improved effort on both sides of the ball this weekend, so expect the Cowboys to come out firing.

The Knights had to come from behind in Round 1, but they did enough to beat the Warriors at home 24-14. While there isn’t much pressure on them in Round 2, a win at North Queensland would greatly boost their credentials for Season 2015. With captain Kurt Gidley set to return, the Knights will be looking to fire up against quality opposition.

The Cowboys have made one change for this match, with Glenn Hall being replaced by Kelepi Tanginoa in the seventeen. Also, in exciting news for Cowboys fans, 2014 prize recruit Lachlan Coote has been named on an extended bench, although one wouldn’t expect him to play this weekend.

The Knights welcome back captain Kurt Gidley from a hamstring problem, meaning Sione Mata’utia drops to the bench. That marks the only change for the Newcastle club, who will otherwise start unchanged on Saturday Night.

The Knights have had the better of this match-up in recent times, winning 17 of the last 30 clashes between the two clubs, including their last meeting, a 36-28 victory.

Prediction
This is a tough game to predict, considering the performance the Cowboys offered up last weekend.

Although the Knights would seem to be in better form to start the season, you can’t go past the Cowboys at home, particularly on the back of a loss.
