Sydney Roosters prop Martin Kennedy has been issued with an infraction notice by the NRL of an alleged breach of the anti-doping rule.

The phrasing of the NRL’s statement suggests that there are multiple alleged violations, and that Kennedy allegedly attempted to use multiple substances.

This follows a report this morning that Kennedy would be issued an infraction notice.

Former ASADA boss Richard Ings also weighed in with his say on the likely consequences of the notice from the NRL.

The NRL integrity unit met today to talk through the potential action for Kennedy.

Here is the full statement by the NRL:

“The NRL today issued Sydney Roosters player Martin Kennedy with a Notice of Alleged Anti-Doping Rule Violations under the NRL’s Leagues Anti-Doping Policy.

“The Notice alleges that Mr Kennedy breached the Policy through the possession and attempted use of banned substances.

“The NRL will not be making further comment until Mr Kennedy has had the opportunity to respond to the NRL.”
