After yet another embarrassing display by a couple of injured rugby league players, surely the time has come for Australia’s major sporting organisations to show some balls and take some real action.

Lately it seems like trouble is a weekly occurrence; for some cashed up sportsperson to break the law and drag their sport, club and fans loyalty through the mud. These meat-heads wear a few weeks of pain for publicity purposes, then they go off on their merry ways, continuing with their contract.

Greg Bird is an example of someone who has allegedly committed violence against a woman, is currently under investigation for possible involvement with drugs, has committed vandalism on a police cars and carries a reputation of being one of the dirtiest players going around.

He will ultimately leave the Titans and go on to get a great deal somewhere else. How can this be?

Remember Todd Carney? He’s back pulling beers isn’t he? Wrong! He’s on the big bucks in Europe!

This scenario is constantly repeated. These guys get punished initially for being idiots, but in the long term don’t seem to suffer the consequences.

I’m pretty sure the hard working public has had more than enough. They don’t want there kids emulating this growing group of people who resemble drop kicks more than role models.

Which sporting club will break with tradition and take some real action against these court jesters? Half arsed fines are token only and one and two-game suspensions are just a weekend to recover from niggles.

Let’s see some instant sackings, like it is in the real world. Let punish the Warners, Hunts and Tomics swiftly and brutally.

Fans are getting put off by this behaviour and the tearful apologies should be accompanied with canned laughter. Why is there one law for dickheads and one for everyone else?

I throw down the challenge to teams everywhere kick your next offender to the curb!
