A-League club Perth Glory have been issued with a second show cause notice by Football Federation Australia, alleging they have breached the salary cap in the current season.
It is alleged the breaches would place Perth Glory significantly over the $2.55 million seasonal salary cap.
The alleged breaches involve failure to disclose reportable payments and exceeding the salary cap.
They involve:
– The club making payments outside of the standard player contract,
– Payments to a player’s family member
– Payments of player agent fees
– Payment of a third party sponsorship
– Pre-payment to a player
– Payment of travel costs
– Accommodation allowances
– Provision of motor vehicles.
Fairfax reported that the FFA will allege the Glory deliberately exceeded the A-League salary cap limit by approximately $150,000 when it paid a player through a third party for the entire season.
With Glory in fourth spot on the A-League ladder, and still well in contention for the Premier’s Plate, a loss of points for any such breaches could have a devastating impact on the their 2014/15 campaign.
The club is just one point off the lead and led the competition earlier in the season.
Fairfax reported that the salary of star striker Andy Keogh is central to the FFA’s investigation.
The club will now have to explain its actions to the governing body by April 8.
The latest show-cause notice followed another received by the Glory in February.
