Mal Meninga is faced with a tough decision to make before State of Origin kicks off on May 27: does he select incumbent Queensland fullback Billy Slater or South Sydney Rabbitohs star Greg Inglis to wear the Maroons No. 1 in 2015?

Billy Slater (Melbourne Storm)
Billy Slater is a Queensland legend, however his 11-year State of Origin career is coming to an end.

Slater has done it all at the top grade, playing 275 games for the Melbourne Storm where he has scored 170 tries. He has also pulled on the Australia jersey 25 times, scoring 22 tries for his country and winning several international tournaments.

Slater’s body is like new after undergoing laser eye treatment to restore 20/20 vision, shoulder surgery to reconstruct his AC joint, and an anthroscopy on his left elbow.

Greg Inglis (South Sydney Rabbitohs)
In his nine-year State of Origin career, Inglis has scored more tries than any other Maroons player.

Inglis has played 206 first-grade games, scoring 127 tries for the Melbourne Storm and the South Sydney Rabbitohs, where he won the 2014 NRL grand final.

The South Sydney fullback has pulled on the Australian jumper 33 times, scoring 27 tries, and has represented the Indigenous All Stars on three occasions.

Bolters
Michael Morgan (North Queensland Cowboys) has great chemistry with likely Maroons five-eighth Johnathan Thurston, and was called in as 18th man for Game 3 of last year’s series.

Darius Boyd (Brisbane Broncos) has represented his state 21 times and is one of Queensland’s most potent tryscorers. However he must overcome an achilles injury and prove he is fit to play.

Dane Gagai (Newcastle Knights) has been one of the Knights’ best players of 2015, which has seen them win four of their first five matches. The Brisbane junior is one of the best young outside backs running around, however he is unlikely to play fullback as he prefers to play on the edges.

Justin Hodges (Brisbane Broncos) is one of the most experienced State of Origin players in the National Rugby League having played in 21 matches for his state. Hodges has also represented his country 13 times, the Indigenous All Stars three times, and played over 200 matches in first grade. However Hodges is out with a hamstring injury until Round 7 and fullback is not his preferred position.
