Livewire Eddie Betts slotted six goals as Adelaide downed St Kilda by 46 points on a costly injury day for both AFL clubs.

Adelaide’s 18.11 (119) to 10.13 (73) triumph at Adelaide Oval on Saturday came with Crow Matthew Jaensch’s season in doubt after damaging a knee.

Saints captain Nick Riewoldt was taken to hospital after being knocked out in a head-on-head collision with Crow Brodie Smith, who was also concussed.

Both players were substituted after their opening-term crash.

St Kilda also lost youngster Jack Lonie to concussion, had midfielder Leigh Montagna withdraw five minutes before the game with a tight hamstring, while Jarryn Geary was another late scratching with a thigh injury.

The injuries came as Adelaide emphatically logged a fifth win of the season, with Betts again starring.

Betts’ protege Charlie Cameron, captain Taylor Walker and Tom Lynch each kicked three goals as the Crows found too many attacking weapons for the Saints to silence.

Adelaide onballer Scott Thompson, ruckman Sam Jacobs and backmen Rory Laird also helped steady their 43,532-strong home crowd after a fast St Kilda start.

The visitors led 19-1 by the 10 minute mark but Adelaide kicked 14 of the next 18 majors to take control.

The Saints, now with two wins and five losses, were superbly served by five-goal forward Josh Bruce and David Armitage, Jack Steven and Jack Billings gathered plenty of possessions.
