Match preview:

The Newcastle Knights will try to break their five-game losing streak when they host the Wests Tigers at Hunter Stadium. Join The Roar from 3:50pm (AEDT) for live coverage.

The game will be won in the halves as Tyrone Roberts and Kurt Gidley for the Knights clash with Wests’ rookie halves in Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks.

Roberts will try to steer his side away from a huge form slump, while Brooks will look to save his team from embarrassment after coming off a massive 4-36 loss to the Roosters.

It will also be the last audition for the 2015 State of Origin series opener as Curtis Sironen, James Tedesco, Tariq Sims, Beau Scott, Kade Snowden, Akuila Uate and James McManus try to impress Laurie Daley, while Korbin Sims and Dane Gagai will look to secure a spot in Mal Meninga’s Queensland side.

Jason Taylor has named an unchanged side despite last week’s loss to the Roosters. Jack Stockwell moves back onto the bench, replacing Joseph Tapine who has been added to an extended five-man bench. For the Knights, David Fa’alogo starts at prop with Korbin Sims relegated to the bench.

Last time the two teams met the Tigers defeated the Knights 23-20 in Round 13, 2014.

After a strong start to the season the Newcastle Knights have now lost five games in a row, failing to pick up two points since their Round 4 clash with the Penrith Panthers.

Prediction
The Knights need to turn around their recent form. Rick Stone’s team will target the Tigers’ woes and piece together their first win in six games.

Knights by 4.
