2015 State of Origin Game 2 was a ratings winner for Channel Nine, with 2.615 million people tuning in to watch the NSW Blues beat Queensland 26-18.

According to overnight OzTAM estimates, the clash beat Game 1’s ratings which saw 2.432m metro viewers tune in. The crowd at the MCG was also a State of Origin record, with 91,513 attending. It beat the previous largest crowd of 88,336, which was set at Stadium Australia in July 1999.

The preliminary audience figure for Nine was 2,481,000 viewers, plus 134,000 Perth viewers who watched the game via Nine’s digital channel Gem, for a five-city total.

2014’s Game 2 was watched by 2.682m (including Perth), with the total 2015 figures slightly down for last night’s corresponding clash.

Origin’s pre-match (1.488m metro viewers) and post-match (1.055m metro viewers) shows helped the Nine Network further cement a dominant night.

Game 3’s deciding match will likely continue the strong performance of Origin, with the match on July 8, at Suncorp Stadium in Queensland.
