Chad Mendes looking to finish Conor McGregor in three rounds

Second-ranked featherweight Chad Mendes agreed to step into the octagon against third-ranked Conor McGregor at in an interim title fight UFC 189, after featherweight champion Jose Aldo was forced out of the bout due to injury.

Mendes jumped on the opportunity to face McGregor, and claims that he has been ready for the Irishman since he first entered the UFC.

“I’ve been preparing for Conor McGregor since the first time I saw this dude fight” said Chad Mendes at UFC conference call earlier today.

“I live a healthy lifestyle, I stay in great shape all year round and I never let my weight get out of control.

“This is perfect for me”.

Some of McGregor’s talk has been directed at Mendes, and despite feeling disrespected the American has one goal in mind.

“This is a guy I knew was going to talk his way to the top”.

“He beat every person they put in front of him and it’s time for me to get in there and do what I’ve trained for my entire life and that’s become the champion”.

Mendes is more than confident that he has all the tools to dismantle McGregor, and is looking forward to meeting him in the octagon.

“Conor’s never faced anyone like me before” said Mendes.

“I have the athleticism, the strength, the power the speed and the wrestling to put him on his back and finish this fight.

“This fight is mine”.

Part of Conor McGregor’s game includes predicting the results of his fights, and he claims that he will only need four minutes to finish Mendes.

However, Mendes has predicitons of his own.

“I’ve a got a bit more respect, I’ll finish you (McGregor) in three”.

McGregor has become a huge talking point in the UFC since his arrival, and his dynamic personality and fighting style has generated many ticket sales.

However, Mendes believes that people will be tuning in to see him lose.

“The people want to see me crush your face” Mendes told McGregor during the conference call.

“People hate it when you talk, they hate your mouth.

“People are going to want to tune in to this fight because they are going to want to watch me destroy Conor”.
