Though it is still too early to pass full judgments on Liverpool’s new signings, there are a few things to be gathered from the new men at The Kop.

Brendan Rodgers will hope his signings can make an immediate impact, both for the side to have a chance at taking out the title but also for Rodgers to keep his job.

Last season it was obvious that Liverpool’s defence was a major factor. They finished with a makeshift back three not worthy of a top-four finish.

With Dan Sturridge injured for most of the season and the team’s other forwards failing to find the back of theG net often, there was no clear striker in the team. And with the midfield not contributing with goals, it was hard to tell where Liverpool’s attacking threats were.

Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet didn’t also make it easy for himself and team with his early gaffes which cost the team points. The final day 6-1 trashing at the hands of Stoke City made it clear that something needed to be done. A reshuffle was very imminent, even if it included the manager.

In 2015-16, the first six matches are crucial for Brendan Rodgers.

Fast-forward a month and Liverpool have bolstered their squad with six new players. James Milner will add experience to the team which is crucial after the departure of Steven Gerrard.

The free signing of Danny Ings, although not spectacular, could be important. His 11 Premier League goals for the relegated Burnley will be expected to improve – especially if provided with better service.

He could be seen as cover for Sturridge when unfit or as a partner up front, which was successful for Liverpool in the 2013-14 season.

Another problem that has lingered is a lack of competition for the first team goalkeepers. Pepe Reina never had a major competition while at Liverpool and the same can be said of Simon Mignolet. So the purchase of Adam Bogdan may help prove enough competition for the Liverpool number one.

Roberto Firmino is a very exciting purchase for Liverpool and is one that should slot straight into the starting 11.

The £29-million price tag is a burden for a young player and adds pressure, especially in a season that is very crucial for Liverpool. He could play as a false nine but is best positioned as a second striker.

With his 7 goals and 10 assists – which is better than any Liverpool midfielder from last season – Brendan would hope this stats can be translated immediately to the team.

The signing of Joe Gomez and Bobby Adekanye proves the ideology of signing young talent is still there. Although Joe is more likely to break into the first team provided he is not loaned out, the talent is there to see from both players.

Nathaniel Clyne looks a promising purchase as well and will slot staright at right back after the departure of Glen Johnson. His attacking prowess as well as astute defending will be crucial for Liverpool. And with a £12.5million price tag, it can be seen as a coup – especially with the influx in pries for English players.

Liverpool’s transfers have been promising so far. Pre-season is just a week away, so it won’t be long until we get an understanding as to the success of Rodgers’ new recruits.
