Match Result: The Canterbury Bulldogs keep themselves in the top eight with an 18-16 win over the Brisbane Broncos at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Bulldogs 18
Broncos 16

In a match of momentum shifts the Bulldogs dominated the last 60 minutes to record their first victory against the Broncos in Queensland since 2009.

The first 20 minutes belonged to Brisbane, as two straight penalties on the final tackle put them in good position in the fifth minute. Corey Oates opened the scoring with a run down the left hand side to the corner post.

Oates had a double 17 minutes later, as Darius Boyd fed him a great pass to give the Broncos a 10-0 lead.

With 11 minutes to go in the half, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard, as Aiden Tolman scored his first try for the season. They could have been in the lead at halftime, but a knock on put paid to a second try before oranges.

Two minutes after halftime Sam Perritt broke through the Broncos defence to give the Bulldogs a 12-10 lead, which was extended in the 63rd minute as Brett Morris scored his first for the night.

Brisbane responded with a try to Corey Parker to make it 18-16 with 10 to go, but as the fulltime siren rang the scores were still locked with the Doggies 2 ahead.

Canterbury move up to seventh, meaning they will remain in the eight for the weekend. Meanwhile, Brisbane face the possibility of the Cowboys taking their spot at the top of the ladder.

The Broncos face the Dragons in Brisbane next week, while the Bulldogs take on the Titans on the Central Coast.

Match preview
After disappointing losses last weekend, the Brisbane Broncos and Canterbury Bulldogs will be looking to bounce back when they face off at Suncorp Stadium. Join The Roar for all the action from 7:45pm (AEST).

Last week Brisbane were smashed by a rejuvenated Manly 44-14, ending their eight-match winning streak and opening the door for the Cowboys to win the minor premiership.

Despite the loss, Brisbane have been the in-form team of the competition, winning 15 of their last 18 matches and losing just two in their last 10.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, had their finals chances further diminished by a 38-28 loss to the Roosters.

These two teams have already faced each other this year, Brisbane winning 16-8 in Round 18.

The Brisbane forward pack dominated the match, scoring two of the Broncos’ three tries and gaining 400 more metres than the Dogs.

Despite the loss last week, Brisbane have kept the faith at the selection table, with Dale Copley the only inclusion in an 18-player squad.

The Bulldogs on the other hand have made plenty of changes.

Aiden Tolman and Curtis Rona come into the team at prop and wing respectively, with David Klemmer back to the bench.

Shaun Lane also comes in at the expense of Danny Fualalo on the bench.

Prediction
Brisbane have lost just once at home this year – against South Sydney in Round 1 – and I don’t expect them to lose two in a row.

Brisbane by 6.
