MATCH RESULT

FULL TIME: Arsenal 0 – 2 West Ham United

West Ham United have three points, and they have finally bested Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

For all the talk around Arsenal, the play, the hype and the keeper, in the end it’s a simple header from Kouyate that put the Hammers ahead.

>>MATCH REPORT: Wenger rocked by nerve-ridden Arsenal

Arsenal dominated the majority of the half, and West Ham looked like they would need to take the players out to get the ball earning three yellow cards and racking up the card count early.

However, Arsenal lacked that finishing touch, the final balls were poor to say the least.

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Payet were the stand out men for the both clubs, both men looking dangerous and giving defenders a lot of trouble.

Arsene Wenger clearly frustrated with his men, and Arsenal are looking down the barrel of a barrage of criticism after the first half.

In the second, it was the same story, as Arsenal probed but lacked the final touch, and they were made to pay by Zarate who fired one past a sleeping Petr Cech to make it two.

Wenger brought on Sanchez and Walcott to save the day, however, with the exception of one or two chances the Gunners never looked like scoring.

West Ham off the counter could have gotten a lot more, but they will settle for two.

The final score in London, Arsenal 0, West Ham United 2.

The 2015/16 Premier League season kicks off for Arsenal as they look to build on an impressive pre-season when they host West Ham United. Join us on The Roar from 10:30pm AEST for live scores and commentary.

The Gunners have been firing throughout the pre-season, finding the net 14 times and conceding only once in their last five matches.

Manager Arsene Wenger achieved a milestone of his own, having finally got one over Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in his side’s 1-0 win over the Blues last week. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain found the net in the 24th minute to seal Community Shield for the Gunners.

Arsenal have also been boosted by the signing of goalkeeper and Chelsea legend Petr Cech, the 33-year old has played three games for the Gunners and already won three trophies.

However, Arsene Wenger’s side will be without midfielder Jack Wilshire who suffered a hairline fracture in training, and star man Alexis Sanchez is still in doubt for the opening fixture.

Arsenal haven’t been beaten by West Ham United since their move to the Emirates, and haven’t lost to the Hammers in their last 14 fixtures.

West Ham United are coming off a disappointing Europa League loss, which saw the Hammers crash out of the competition 4-3 on aggregate against Astra Giurgiu.

The Hammers face a shortage of strikers with Enner Valencia still out due to a leg injury, however Andy Carroll is back training with the under-21 squad and a return is not too far off for the West Ham star.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has reportedly instructed club officials to make a bid for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez in an attempt to strengthen his front line.

The Hammers have had little success when it comes to Premier League opening fixtures, having lost more games on the opening weekend than any other side.

Prediction:
Arsenal will have all the momentum going into this fixture, and should be able to cruise past an already struggling West Ham side.

Arsenal 3-0 West Ham United

Can Arsenal start their 2015/16 Premier League campaign on a high, or will West Ham United pull off the upset and take the Gunners momentum away from them? Join us on The Roar from 10:30pm AEST to find out.
