England and Ireland face off in a huge World Cup warm up match at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday night. Join The Roar for live scores from 11:30pm (AEST).

England host world number two team Ireland at their Twickenham fortress in their final warm-up game before the World Cup.

It will be a crucial hitout between the two sides, who last faced off in the Six Nations, a tournament that elevated Ireland to their current ranking in the world.

We won’t see Sam Burgess start the game for England, but it looks as though he will see some action from the bench.

Brad Barritt will start at inside centre instead, and he’s sure to dry to heap some pain on Jonny Sexton and some of the Irish backs.

That said, England will need some hard hitting from Barritt, with the Irish backs looking very promising. Jared Payne starts at outside centre, the world’s best flyhalf Jonny Sexton will conduct the orchestra, and Simon Zebo adds plenty on the wing.

It’s also been reported that Irish skipper Paul O’Connell pretty well demanded of the selectors and coaches that he play in this match.

His injury troubles have been well-documented, and there were even fears about his World Cup, but this must sound alarm bells for Stuart Lancaster and the England coaching staff, with the indomitable O’Connell so keen to take on a strong England pack.

Chris Robshaw will have to lead from the front, alongside his fellow England veterans. It will be an absorbing forward contest, but you do feel as though Ireland have an advantage in the backlines.

George Ford will be under immense pressure to perform, and whether he can stand up will go a long way to determining the result.
