In what could be an absolute blow out the San Antonio Spurs, still without Tim Duncan and now Manu Ginobli, take on the bottom of the table Los Angeles Lakers. Join The Roar for live scores of this match from 12:30pm (AEDT).

The Spurs will go into this match having won their last three in a row after hitting some roadblocks last week on the road against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors. Before that, the Spurs had won 13 straight and were rapidly losing on Western Conference leaders, the Warriors. Now, they sit 3.5 games back from the Warriors, with a record of 42 wins and eight losses.

Maybe the most impressive part about the Spurs record, is the fact they are yet to lose a game at home, with a perfect 27-0 record.

The Lakers meanwhile have managed to record victories in their last two games over the Minnesota Timberwolves and the New Orleans Pelicans, with both being by less than five points. Before that though, the Lakers had lost 10 matches in a row and it has left them glued to the bottom of the west with a record of 11 wins and 41 losses, 35.5 games behind the Warriors.

The Spurs, without Ginobli and Duncan will be as always looking to Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker for their attack. Parker is one of the smartest players in the competition, and averaging over five assists per game, as well as a handful of points. Leonard meanwhile is averaging over 20 points per game and linking well with Parker.

The problem for the Spurs though won’t be attack. It will be defence. Duncan is their leader on the defensive end, the one who gives the communication and orders and since he has been injured the Spurs defence has taken a hit. The Lakers attack hasn’t been brilliant, but if they can put on a performance in attack equal to their best of the season, they could go a long way in this match.

The sides have already met once this year, which was only just over a fortnight ago. Even though they were on the road, the Spurs were able to as expected take the match and rather convincingly, recording a 13-point victory.

Prediction
Even without some stars, the Spurs haven’t looked like losing many games this season, and should have way too much for the hapless Lakers, even though they have won a few games in recent times.
