If nothing else rugby league can make you laugh. Just when you think the fun police couldn’t get any more politically correct – Josh Reynolds goes and rubs good mate Aidan Sezer on the backside. Here come the sirens.

Yep, Canterbury were looking for cracks in the Canberra defensive line on Monday night and the Bulldogs five-eight found one. Not to make young Josh the butt of some kind of drawn out joke, the cheek of the five-eight must be commended (that’s Reynolds’ cheek – not Sezer’s).

The Bulldogs were behind in the match and Reynolds was simply trying to get the upper hand at the rear-end of the scrum. It really isn’t a laughing matter. Sezer’s tail isn’t something to be besmirched for he was superb against the Doggies and helped the Raiders put the booty into their rivals.

It wasn’t a full moon at Belmore but it was refreshing to see Canberra take maximus points from the clash and back door it to the nation’s capital.

If only Glen Buttriss was playing.

EVERY NRL GAME THIS SEASON WILL BE LIVE ON FOXTEL

Mary Konstantopoulos
Tips: Broncos (Powerplay), Roosters, Eels, Sea Eagles, Panthers, Sharks, Knights, Bulldogs.

“For me the Cowboys and the Broncos are miles ahead of all the other teams in the NRL. If the Cowboys can beat the Dragons 36-0, I’m a bit frightened as to what this score line might look like in Thursday night football.

“Rabbitohs and Roosters? Damned if I do, damned if I don’t. I have been consistently picking the Roosters because they have to win eventually… right? I don’t really think they can beat the Bunnies but know that if I tip against them they will win to spite me. So come on Roosters!

“The Bulldogs were embarrassed in front of their home crowd at Belmore and I would be very surprised if they play a similar way two weeks in a row. The Storm have been their normal clinical selves in the opening rounds of the competition, but were very lucky to defeat the Knights. The bubble will burst this weekend.”

Tips: Broncos (Powerplay), Rabbitohs, Raiders, Warriors, Cowboys, Sharks, Wests Tigers, Storm.

“The Bunnies started well last week but their bench forwards lost them the momentum and allowed the Eagles back into it. However from what we’ve seen so far this season it doesn’t seem like the Roosters will have the wherewithal to take advantage the way the Eagles did.

“With a totally re-arranged backline it was inevitable that the Sharks would have some ups and downs but when it all comes together this is a top four team. They’ll have too much firepower for the gutsy Titans.

“After a bright start to the season the Tigers have slumped over the last three weeks. The Knights however are a long way off being a genuine first grade side. The rebuild continues.”

“Thursday night kicks off the round and I’m expecting the Broncos to smash the Dragons while the Bunnies should just pip the Roosters the following night.

“I think all three games on Super Saturday will be close but predicting wins for Parramatta, Warriors and the Cowboys away from home.

“The round finishes up with Melbourne and Canterbury at AAMI Park and I think the Dogs to go to Melbourne and make amends for their insipid effort against the Raiders.”

Things could get scary for St George Illawarra if Brisbane are on their game. The Broncos have been winning ugly (which still looks pretty) and could be about to set fire to the NRL.

I’m loving the Canberra Raiders this season and I can’t see why they can’t beat Parramatta at Pirtek Stadium on Saturday afternoon in arguably the game of the round.

Got a feeling Penrith have something to say against Johnathan Thurston’s Cowboys – don’t underestimate the importance of Matt Moylan to this team.
