After a tough, 4-1 loss to Liverpool in their last fixture, Stoke City can’t afford to drop points if they wish to play European football next season.

The Potters have had an inconsistent season, and have a poor record at home against the Spurs, having lost at Britannia Stadium against Tottenham more times than against any other side in the Premier League.

However, should Stoke pull off an upset, it would see them climb within just three points of fifth-placed Manchester United on the table.

Eight points behind top-of-the-table Leicester City, Tottenham know that nothing short of a win will be good enough if they wish to chase down the Foxes.

Second-placed Spurs are coming off a huge 3-nil win over Manchester United at home, with Bamidele Ali, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela all scoring within six minutes of each other.

Tottenham’s form on the road has also been fantastic, conceding a league-low 13 away goals all season.

The last time these two sides played was in August, when Eric Dyer and Nacer Chadli put the Spurs ahead by two in the first half, before Marko Arnautovic and Mame Diouf fired back for the Potters as the two sides fought to a 2-all draw.

Tottenham can play good football under pressure, and with just five games remaining, it is do-or-die time.
