Match result:

Great effort from both teams, just in some cases, a lack of execution. The Blues triumph in a scrappy game in South Africa.

REPORT: BLUES BEAT KINGS 34-18

The Kings did very well to hang in there and could have come away with the win until the final minutes. Blues failed to take all of their opportunities, and so the score was tighter than most people expected.

Positives to come out for the Kings, while the Blues should be ecstatic with coming away with a bonus point.

Final score
Kings 18
Blues 34

As the Blues are only eight points behind the Hurricanes, who are in the last wildcard spot of the Australasian group, with an additional game in hand, this is the perfect opportunity for the Blues to put pressure on those in front of them.

Unfortunately for the Kings, they’re coming off a 73-27 loss to newcomers the Jaguares. Even with head coach Deon Davids making three changes to that losing side, it’s likely to not make a difference in the end.

Those changes see the inclusion of fullback Jurgen Visser, halfback James Hall and prop Sti Sithole in the starting XV, pushing Ntando Kebe onto the bench and Schalk Ferreira and Jaco von Tonder out of the match day 23.

The Blues are coming off a six-point triumph over the Rebels last weekend, and will look to build upon that game. Coach and former All-Black Tana Umaga has been forced into one change, the replacement of Reiko Ioane through Melani Nanai. Ioane has re-joined the New Zealand Sevens team ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics and will be a noticeable loss for this Blues side.

All-Black representative Charlie Faumuina drops back onto the bench to make way for the more favourable Ofa Tu’ungafasi.

Prediction
Either way, it should be a cracking game that the Blues should also win comfortably.

Blues by 25.
