Match result:

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have come away with a big 32-point victory after they put in a good display against the Wests Tigers in the battle of the West.

REPORT: TIGERS THUMPED, FARAH INJURED

The Bulldogs opened the game strongly with one-way traffic going the way of the blue and white early on.

Canterbury opened the scores just six minutes into the game with Moses Mbye creating the overlap off the scrumbase for Curtis Rona to score.

Sam Perrett struck not long after with the fullback scoring after Josh Jackson looked inside for Kerrod Holland who then passed off to Josh Reynolds with the five-eighth putting Perrett in space.

The Wests Tigers were dealt a massive blow 23 minutes in with the former club captain sustaining a serious neck injury in a tackle on Josh Reynolds and being admitted to hospital.

The Bulldogs scored again moments later with Tyrone Phillips running 50m to score after picking up on the loose ball from a Chris Lawrence offload gone astray.

The black, white and gold finally showed what they were capable of as Aaron Woods put Mitchell Moses through a gap to score in the corner and get the Wests Tigers on the board.

The Wests Tigers’ elation didn’t last for long as Justin Hunt was placed on report for a coathanger on Moses Mbye with Canterbury spreading left in the next set for Josh Morris to score and put the Bulldogs in front 20-4 at half-time.

Canterbury were first to score in the second half with Curtis Rona scoring for a Sam Perrett cut-out pass.

The Bulldogs continued to assert their dominance with Craig Garvey scoring after James Graham passed inside for Perrett who put the bench hooker over to score.

Perrett then sent Josh Reynolds moments before the siren to seal a big win for the Bulldogs.

It was all blue and white at ANZ Stadium in the battle of the West with a strong performance by Des Hasler’s men seeing the ‘Dogs secure a 36-4 win.

The Bulldogs’ right-hand edge stood out with Sam Perrett, Josh Reynolds and Josh Jackson all outstanding for Canterbury while James Graham and David Klemmer led the way in the middle.

Greg Eastwood, Michael Lichaa, Aiden Tolman and Moses Mbye were also outstanding while Josh Morris and Curtis Rona had a killer-combo on the left flank scoring one and two tries respectively.

Mitchell Moses and Aaron Woods were good for the Wests Tigers as was Tim Grant in an otherwise dull game for the joint venture.

Canterbury will return to ANZ Stadium next Sunday afternoon to host the Roosters while the Wests Tigers prepare to take on the Knights on Saturday at Campbelltown Stadium.

Final score:
Wests Tigers 4
Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs 36

Woods will be one of several returning stars for the joint venture with Mitchell Moses, Tim Grant and Justin Hunt returning in place of Asipeli Fine, JJ Felise, Michael Chee-Kam and James Tedesco while Elijah Taylor could make his first appearance in the black, white and gold off an extended bench.

Last time the Balmain-Western Suburbs consortium took to the field, Jason Taylor’s men shocked the South Sydney Rabbitohs with a strong display in Round 9 after Jordan Rankin and Robbie Farah dazzled for the struggling franchise.

All eyes will be on skipper Aaron Woods up front who faces a tough task in one of the NRL’s most formidable forward packs, featuring a number of big names including England international James Graham.

Woods needs to lead the way in the middle and guide the likes of Curtis Sironen and Sauaso Sue into good form while the halves pairing of Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks will also play a massive role against Canterbury.

The blue and white will be without Will Hopoate for the next three weeks with the fullback taking Sundays off in 2016 due to his Mormon faith.

Sam Perrett takes his place while coach Des Hasler has made a major shakeup in the forward pack with Tony Williams dropping to the bench and Sam Kasiano going into the starting side at lock forward which pushes Greg Eastwood to the back row.

The Dogs hold the upper hand in front and will need to use their monstrous capabilities to bully the Tigers if they are to iron out their inconsistencies that have so far riddled them in 2016.

In 29 meetings since 1998, the Bulldogs have won 18 matches to the Wests Tigers’ 11 victories.

Last time they clashed, the Tigers came away with a 38-14 win in Round 8, 2015 while in their prior meeting in Round 4, Canterbury pipped the joint venture in extra-time 25-24.

Prediction
Canterbury will be too strong and get a win over their Sydney rivals.

Bulldogs by 10.
