Match Review:

The Gold Coast Titans have ended a five match losing streak by seeing off the Sydney Roosters in a 26-6 win.

It was all the Titans early, as they won consecutive penalties to put them in the Roosters 20. The Roosters defence was however proving a tough nut to crack and the Titans opted for a two pointer on eight minutes courtesy of a Roosters strip. Points secured via a successful conversion from Tyrone Roberts.

After putting in a lot of defence, the Roosters levelled the scores courtesy of a penalty and conversion from Jackson Hastings on 18 minutes.

In a rather dire half, Roosters fullback Latrell Mitchell provided a moment of magic on 32 minutes to grab the game’s first try. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves managing to offload it in his own half to the fullback Mitchell who went on an Inglis-like run, weaving in and out of Titans players to touch down in the left corner. Hastings couldn’t convert but Roosters temporarily led 6-2.

The Titans would respond just before half-time as Agnatius Paasi reached out for the line and just managed to get it down over the line. The bunker was needed to secure the Titans first try, one that Roberts converted to put the Titans ahead 8-6 at the break.

It was a real arm wrestle in the first twenty minutes of the second half, a wrestle the Titans ultimately won.

A brilliant bullet pass from Roberts in the 63rd minute, 10 metres from the Roosters line finding Mead down the left who sprinted over in the corner. Roberts added the extras to put Titans 14-6 up.

Chris McQueen then did it all himself in the 69th minute to add another Titans try. The forward dodging an out coming Blake Ferguson to dart through the gap created and eventually step past Mitchell to grab himself a great solo try. Roberts making no mistake with the conversion to make it 20-6 Titans.

William Zillman then put the nail in the Roosters coffin after he pounced on an unorthodox Ashley Taylor kick in the 73rd minute. Roberts making it 5/5 with his boot for the night to seal a 26-6 win.

Final Score:
Gold Coast Titans 26
Sydney Roosters 6

Match Preview:

Two teams towards the bottom of the ladder face off tonight as the Gold Coast Titans host the Sydney Roosters. Join us on The Roar from 7pm for some Monday night football as two sides look to propel their way up the table.

After a surprisingly solid start to the season, winning three out of their first four games, the Titans now find themselves 13th on the ladder after five consecutive losses. Losing by less than eight points for four weeks in a row, the Titans were steamrolled by the Storm in their last outing falling to a 38-0 loss. An injury heavy month is likely to blame for their lack of results and the week off may just rejuvenate them as they look to kick start their season.

Winless after their first five games, the Roosters look like they may have turned a corner last time out as they picked up a convincing 38-0 win over the Knights. Being just their second win of the season however means they sit second last and really must start winning if they hope to crack the top eight. A hat-trick of tries to Blake Ferguson and the return of Mitchell Pearce against the Knights proved a winning formula, and could work wonders for what is a quality Roosters side on paper.

In squad news, the Titans welcome Anthony Don, David Shillington and Eddy Pettybourne into their squad with Lachlan Burr falling out. For the Roosters, one winger is in for another as Daniel Topou returns from injury in time to replace the injured Shaun Kenny-Dowall. Connor Watson is also added to the team list.

Who will start to dig their way out of the wrong half of the ladder? Join us on The Roar from 7pm AEST to find out as the Gold Coast Titans play the Sydney Roosters.
