Manchester United was the club every player dreamed about playing for. It was a privilege to wear the United crest and run out in front of the Stretford end, at the Red Devils’ home, Old Trafford.

But since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, United have struggled to bring in the talent they need to succeed in the Premier League and European competitions.

Although signings like Angel Di Maria, Juan Mata and Memphis Depay have been signed during the David Moyes and Louis van Gaal eras, they have failed to live up to expectations. Di Maria left after a season partially due to Van Gaal’s ‘boring’ tactics.

So is Van Gaal negatively influencing any potential signings for Manchester United?

It’s rumored that Manchester United have offered Zlatan Ibrahimovic a one-year contract. But Ibrahimovic has allegedly said he is only willing to accept the deal if Jose Mourinho is the manager. Rumours also suggest David De Gea will leave if Van Gaal remains manager.

The evidence is there to suggest Van Gaal is harming Manchester United’s ability to attract star names. His tactics have been questioned over the past two seasons, with United finishing first with back passes and third with side passes during the 2015-16 Premier League season. You can see why their football has been labelled ‘boring’.

If Van Gaal is to stay at Manchester United for the 2016-17 Premier League season will he be able to attract star signings during the transfer window? Or will his stay at Old Trafford affect United’s potential transfers?
