If you’re wondering how the weather conditions are shaping up for Game 2 of the 2016 State of Origin series, we’ve got you covered. Temperatures are plummetting as Australia passes the Winter Solstice, even in Brisbane.

So Queenslanders have braced for the chill, insisting they were born in the cold, and can prevail in conditions that some might think to better represent ANZ Stadium than the Cauldron of Suncorp.

Weather-wise, though, it’s all looking rather chipper after a weekend of rain threatened to turn this into a soggy affair.

The outlook is suggesting a kickoff temperature of 17 degrees and a very, very small chance of rain with only 1-2% precipitation predicted. A 13km/h wind will swirl around the ground making for ideal conditions for hands on football.

Those predicting a ‘firm, dry track’ look to be on the money yet again.

Suncorp Stadium looked a treat for the Queensland Maroons’ captains run yesterday:

So the grass is in good shape, there shouldn’t be as much dew on the surface as there is in Sydney or Melbourne, and the Maroons and Blues are both primed to attack.

Once again, the weather shouldn’t play into this game one bit. Both sides are prepared, and have good teams that can put on points. Nothing about the pitch will affect that, which is great news for fans.

Hopefully the game will be a better spectacle than the last affair, which ended in a 6-4 win for Queensland. Regardless of the result, there will be plenty of people tuning in to find out.
