He’s been dropped from New South Wales’ State of Origin side, and now Dylan Walker’s NRL season has just got even worse, with the Manly centre out of pocket and out of rugby league for a month after inflicting an injury on himself by hitting a door.

The Sea Eagles released a statement on Monday morning, saying the injury occurred when Walker and his partner were coming home partner from a night out with a number of teammates on Saturday. All players at the club were given the weekend off to enjoy the bye.

According to the statement, Walker lashed out at his front door “with frustration and stupidity” after being unable to open it.

Manly has now issued Walker with a breach notice and fined him $10,000 for his actions.

Walker and his partner immediately drove to St Vincent’s hospital, where his hand was x-rayed. He will undergo further scans on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.

The incident has been reported to the NRL’s Integrity Unit.

Full statement from the Manly Sea Eagles:

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have today issued centre Dylan Walker with a breach notice and fined him $10,000 following an incident on Saturday night.

Walker damaged his right hand in the incident at his apartment and will subsequently miss up to a month of football.

Walker and his partner met with Sea Eagles officials early this morning.

They admitted Walker struck out with frustration and stupidity when he had trouble opening the wooden front door to his apartment.

He and his partner immediately drove to the casualty department of St Vincents Hospital for x-rays and treatment.

Walker had been out with several team mates in Manly up until around 10pm on Saturday night, with the players having the weekend off as a result of the bye.

The Club has advised the NRL Integrity Unit of the incident and will make no further comment on the matter.
