Manchester City are out for a winning start to their 2016-17 Premier League campaign when they host Sunderland. Join The Roar from 2:30am (AEST) for live scores.

Coming off a 3-2 loss to Arsenal in a club friendly in Sweden, City have a lot to work on.

Opening betting favourites to take out the title, the Citizens started off well last season, before eventually dropping too many points and seeing themselves out of the title race.

City have dominated Sunderland in recent years, having never lost at home to the Black Cats in 12 Premier League fixtures.

Moreover, the Citizens have won their last five matches against Sunderland, scoring an average of 3.2 goals a game. The away side are looking to produce a massive upset under new manager David Moyes, and likely will be playing a different style of football.

Moyes has already made his presence known at the club, signing Manchester United duo Paddy McNair and Donald Love from the club he used to manage.

The last time these two sides met, in February, saw Sergio Aguero find the net in the 16th minute for City to take a 1-nil win at the Stadium of Light.

Prediction
Manchester City are too strong all over the pitch for Sunderland, and have been the more active side since the end of the last season. Expect them to remain unbeaten against the Black Cats at home.
