Match preview:

Sydney FC are looking to continue their great start to the season when they host the Central Coast Mariners at Allianz Stadium. Join The Roar for all the action from 5:35pm (AEDT).

Last week, Sydney FC demolished their crosstown rivals, the Western Sydney Wanderers, 4-0 in front of the biggest crowd the A-League has ever seen.

New marquee striker Bobô renewed his partnership with Filip Holosko, his former teammate at Turkish giants Besiktas, with both scoring and assisting each other in an attacking masterclass.

If they perform like that against the Mariners, they’re sure to win, especially with the form new defensive reinforcements Alex Wilkinson and Michael Zullo.

However, there are questions whether the attacking pair will play a full 90 minutes, due to the upcoming mid-week trip to face Canberra Olympic in the FFA Cup semi-finals.

The Mariners’ first 30 minutes of the new season saw them down 3-0 to Perth Glory, with fans ready to declare “here we go again”. But instead, Paul Okon’s halftime talk inspired his men to an enthralling 3-3 draw, snatching a hard-earned point.

Marquee striker Roy O’Donovan grabbed two goals, continuing his rich vein of form, and new recruit Conor Pain sealed a man of the match performance with an assist and some game-changing passes and forward runs.

Prediction
In a hard fought match, Sydney FC will take the chocolates.
