Ten days ago you would have almost pencilled in another City win tonight after their 4-0 drubbing of Victory at Etihad Stadium in Round 2 of the A-League. How quickly things can change, with Victory pulling off the great escape in Round 3 with the last kick of the game sealing the win over in Adelaide thanks to Marco Rojas.

While on the other side of town, City fell at home to Perth with a 2-3 loss. They certainly weren’t expecting that sort of performance after the previous week’s effort.

City will be bolstered in defence with the return of Sorensen who was strangely left on the bench last week by Van’t Schip in favour for Bouzanis. While at the other end of the ground, Colazo has been ruled out already and the impressive Kamau must be in serious doubt after the concussion he received on Friday night where he had to be helped off the ground.

Victory on the other hand may only make one change from the starting 11 from their Adelaide match with teenage sensation Sebastian Pasquali being pulled from school in anticipation for tonight’s game. Oliver Bozanic impressed in the number 10 role and looks to stay there for this match.

Both teams have a lot of firepower up front and on any given night either team could put on a clinic. More game time for Fornaroli and Cahill to play together is a scary thing for any defence.

A lot will fall on Brattan’s shoulders tonight to provide the quality service out of midfield. Victory’s trio upfront of Rojas, Austin and Berisha will always be a dangerous combo. Bozanic getting another go in the 10 role just shows the quality both teams have.

Prediction
Really tough game to call. Two weeks ago you would have said City in a canter but a few niggling injuries and a slip up last week brings Victory right back into this. I think this will go to extra time and maybe even penalties, which will just add to this rapidly growing rivalry.

1-1 (City in penalties).

Will City be able to take that next step and reach a final?
