Golden State Warriors power forward Draymond Green is certainly no stranger to controversy, and he was again at the centre of it against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 of the NBA finals series.

In the first half, Green had been widely believed to have been handed a technical foul.

And when the 27-year-old was penalised for a second in the third quarter, the crowd erupted, believing – along with broadcasters – he would be ejected from the game.

However, after a discussion between officials, it was revealed that referees had given Warriors coach Steve Kerr a technical foul in the first half, not Green, and the power forward was allowed to play out the remainder of the match.

The situation was further complicated, after it was reported that the scorers had at the time of the original technical foul, been informed it was Green who had been penalised.

The Warriors would later suffer first defeat of the finals series, going down by 21 points.
