was there not a Manly 2 metre forward pass in the in goal from a kick off – Vossy and Brandy blew up about it then quickly forgot about it as Manly went in for their 3rd try.
They then praised Manly for their great work 😂 😂
Thats one referee error that has been glossed over.

Moses-inspired Parra prove they're finals contenders but Manly seething as Bunker lacks 'common sense' with no-try call

but then they go and sign a corey brown

Will the Matildas finally earn football some mainstream support?

you obviously only see what the panthers do and not what any other club does, admittedly panthers have done well in promoting local juniors, but they also buy players as well. Take Hosking, Cogger, Peachey, Blacker, Eisenhuth, Sorenson, Salmon and Garner from the current roster.
Diabilolical attention to junior pathways prior to 2019 made sure juniors progressing to nrl were limited, but that has been somewhat arrested of late – dunster, russell, penisini, arthur all coming thru.
eels actually terminated the arrangement with wenty rather than the way you portray it…..facts may help sometime :-

NRL News: UFC event blindsides finals draw, Leilua charges dropped, Roosters to let Ryles go, Tiger making mid-year switch

@panthers, you always seem so salty….but it wasn’t too long ago that your saintly panthers did the same…..how long was that 5 year plan again? 😂 😂

NRL News: UFC event blindsides finals draw, Leilua charges dropped, Roosters to let Ryles go, Tiger making mid-year switch

maybe its karma for the charges he got off last year…..

Round 4 team lists Late Mail: Milf a chance for Katoa, Munster OK, Tigers hit panic button, Hynes returns, Souths depleted

Not sure how Crummer is in the game day team, let alone the squad, she doesn’t look like scoring at NPL or Wleague level, let alone international level.
The backs look decidedly more assured with Hunt, Grant, Catley and Polky working together. Bit of a changing of the guard with Hunt and Grant preferred over Luik and Kennedy (thankfully).
Great to see the likes of Vine and Cooney-Cross coming into their own now and combining well with Raso, Foord (in the form of her career) and Sam.
I wasn’t a fan of Gustavvson going so defensive and protecting the lead so early and it nearly brought them undone.
Bodes well for the WC but a word of caution – it wasn’t spains best team out there.

Matildas defeat Spain on back of first-half blitz to take pole position in Cup of Nations

imagine the quality of players and facilities that football would have if they got the same level of funding and treatment as the afl and nrl. its staggering that the highest participation sport in the country has a considerably lower per capita govt funding than afl and nrl.

If only everything in the A-League was as good as its free-to-air fixtures

Football at anything other than community level is pretty much a year round sport nowadays – most npl comps start in feb and end mid october. players train all bar 4 weeks of the year, with pre-season friendlies commencing in December and January in a lot of cases….

If only everything in the A-League was as good as its free-to-air fixtures

some butt hurt panthers fans here – i have only ever seen comments by you and your mate complaining that the eels have “taken your juniors” – can’t say i have seen any thing else of value.
must feel kinda under pressure to focus on those aspects rather than the football.

Eels 2023 Outlook: Now or never for Parra as premiership window looks likely to close

where did they play their first recognised junior football? under 6’s has never counted 😂

both are generally acknowledged as eels juniors.

Eels 2023 Outlook: Now or never for Parra as premiership window looks likely to close

how many over the hill players do you count champion? normally that is players over 30…I count 1

Round 1 Predicted Teams - Eels: Another fine mess as Matterson banned three games after appeal denied

you do realise that Papaali’s preferred position is as a middle, not an edge?

Eels hit out at media as RCG re-signs

ahhhh the good old boys 😁 😁
stuff the rabbitohs 😂

Five sneaky underrated subplots from round 1 of the NRL

If the reports are accurate and, in fact, 11 clubs are currently over the cap of $9.2m that all were advised to work towards, then it smacks of mismanagement on one level, and/or a flagrant disregard for the NRL Management on another.
Apart from the obvious alleged culprits in Bulldogs, it would be very interesting to see which other clubs find themselves in that position. Would it be safe to assume that it is the bloc of clubs who were promoting a “rebel” league earlier in the year? Quite probable that, even after all these years, it was the old News Ltd aligned clubs that formed that bloc.
Hopefully, the NRL stick to their guns and don’t bend over backward to appease those who have flouted the guidelines which will then allow those clubs who have been prudent and exercised discretion while following the “rules” to get back on an even footing.
But, we all know that wont happen and the powerful clubs will rule the direction the NRL will take.

NRL salary cap drama: Who could be the winners?

and lost to the eels convincingly in round 1 – just saying…

Winning ugly: Why Manly are the real deal

Hopefully BA will be having a chat with him and entice to join the blue & golds for a year or two and use him in much the same way that he did with Michael Gordon. Cronk would be the ideal role model for the young guys to learn from and model their behaviour on (both on and off the field).
Eels have the cash to spend and the fact that BA and Cronk have worked together in the past would suggest that the deal would far from unlikely.
As much as he is a qld’er, I would be keen for him join the eels….

Cooper Cronk confirms Melbourne Storm exit

and here they go again…

UPDATE: Jason Taylor sacked as Wests Tigers coach

its interesting to note that the alleged “Big 4” have the same manager as the man (Todd Payten) touted as most likely to get the gig after Taylor.
If your name is Cleary or Toovey or any other respected coach, there is no amount of money that would lure you to take on the Tigers role.
They have a poor roster (save for Tedesco), they have no money, their current salary cap is eaten up non-performing over paid players, the club is run by the inmates and they, and they alone, determine who they want to coach them.
Its not a good situation for anyone to walk into.
To me, I think that Taylor has been made the scapegoat for a decades worth of terrible decisions that have allowed player power to be the over riding factor in the clubs success or otherwise.
Good luck to whoever is next anointed as they will be lucky to see out their contract regardless of results.

UPDATE: Jason Taylor sacked as Wests Tigers coach

the other thing to bear in mind is that on the GC, there are very few actual QLD’ers living there, the population is made up of mainly expats from the southern states and which may explain why the Titans draw reasonable crowds for some games and poor crowds for others.
The NRL need to persist with a home grown team on the GC for the long term. The fan base will develop as 2nd generation GC residents start to have their own kids. I see a lot of kids sporting titans gear but their parents sport traditional teams like Manly, Dogs, Eels and so on.

The grizzly truth: The North Sydney Bears should remain in hibernation

and the excuses from the Manly faithful have already started – and its only round 2.
Last season it was “we had the worst injury run of any club” “we were cruelled by injury and bad luck” and 2017 has started the same way.
On Saturdays form they will be fighting it out with Newcastle for the spoon.
It seems that everyone bar the rusted on Manly supporters can see that the recruitment and retention over the last couple of years has been poor.
Is it a coincidence that ever since Bozo has put his hand back on the tiller, things have gone downhill.
Bozo – you once were good, now its time to retire to the farm.

What goes up must come down at Lottoland

Nick, a lot of the things you mention in your game previews can certainly be argued for, however there is one point I will take you to task on –

Eels v’s Manly – a hall mark of BA’s time at the Eels has been the defensive record. 2016 Eels had second best defensive record in the whole competition in 2016, and that was with 14 rounds were there wasn’t a lot to play for except pride.
Me and most other pundits would expect Eels to be in the top 4 for defence over the course of the competition, their downfall may come in the points scored column.

NRL Round 1 preview (Part 2): Newcastle's horror draw

for all the wraps that Tariq and Korbin get, they really have yet to deliver and don’t look like it.
Ashton is probably the best of the 3.
To me there must be an issue with all of them, they get picked up by good clubs and promise the world, but halfway through their contracts their clubs are always looking to off load them.

Your club's transfer performance rating: Part 3

but he didn’t fit well into Sheen’s structure, nor Potters nor Taylors – imo I think he is living off his name only, has never shown anything to live up to his billing.
Apart from Green, all those other manly recruits are full of “potential” and having been promising good things for years but have yet to deliver. Are they likely to change their spots under a rookie coach and tired old selector?
Probably not….
And the recruitment of Uate – wtf was Bozo thinking.

Your club's transfer performance rating: Part 2

Are you serious on your claim?
The signing of Benji is one of the few times you can say that the Broncos paid market value for any player.
100k is all anyone was willing to pay for him – not one other club was interested in him at 300k, let alone the 600k.
But don’t let the facts get in the way of your ill-informed opinion in this instance.

Your club's transfer performance rating: Part 1

Yeah, I don’t think it will seriously happen but one can only hope.
