I disagree that they mocked Smith because they think he’s a softie, in fact I think it was because he’s the opposite! They were mocking him to try and get under his skin, because they know he’s Australia’s strongest player, both mentally and physical. I think that Smith is showing strong signs of being an Allan Border type captain. He won’t take any nonsense from his players, and continues to stand above the rest with his on field performances.

Smith didn’t get away scott free. The reaction from Indian media would have been enough punishment for his misdemeanor. My article may come across as letting him off scott free, but I am not suggesting Smith’s wrong doing can be erased and forgotten. Rather, when it comes to comparisons, Steve Smith is clearly the better cricket and person.
