I agree that Bontempelli will be an absolute champion of the game but if Fyfe gets back to his form of early 2015 no one can match him for the mantle of number 1 player in the game. He is every bit as good as Bontempelli with midfield craft, maybe not as silky. I would rate Fyfe a better mark, especially contested. That is what sets him apart. We may have forgotten how good Fyfe was/is due to his injuries since his early 2015 form

The point I was trying to make was everyone was hounding Hawthorn after Judd exploded onto the scene, they said it was a mistake. As you have said longevity and leadership would mean Hawthorn would not change a thing.

Good stats, I forgot about Luke Ball with osteo pubis, it was just Judd was so electric early, but did have some good cattle around him compared to Ball and Hodge. Still think Hawthorn would not change a thing. You can get a footballer but with Hodge they got the lot.

Would still rate Hodge as good as a player as both of them and far superior in big games. His on field leadership stands out. Both MItchell and Swan never played on anyone in their lifetime. Hodge also had ability to shut down opposition players and still have positive effect on game. Judd, in early days was far better than any of them.
I just think Hodge has longevity, leadership, big game player and the team stats (of which he was leader) to back it up.

I think the big loser out of the entire draft was St Kilda. Luke Ball was a very good player but not in the same league as these 2. St Kilda could only dream of what might have been, imagine Judd and Reiwoldt in same side.
