The Clippers have been a very effective team, and a team with a lot of potential, but, they have never been able to get past the second round of the playoffs. When you have the same core players for five years and each year they achieve the same result, I don’t think it makes sense to not try something new.

My suggestion of Blake being traded wasn’t only based on his salary vs win share, it was also based on the fact that without him this year, the Clippers were able to go 30-15. A very good record in the West. I do agree Blake is a great player, but as the Clippers could win a substantial number of games without him, and win them at a good percentage, I don’t think he is as important to that team as his salary suggests. I think someone like Love would suit the Clippers much better due mainly to superior offensive spacing. The Griffin/Deandre combo just begs for opposing teams to sag in the paint. A player like Love would open it up for Paul on the drive and for Deandre on the pick and roll. Aside from his three point shooting, people also forget that Love was ranked by the majority as the number one power forward in the league a few years ago; you don’t lose that talent over night. If Cleveland’s offence (and players) actually allowed him to post up, he could still be the dominant player he was in Minnesota. Also, RE Love on defence, he wasn’t the defensive win they would trade for, Thad Young was.

In terms of Griffin in Cleveland, I feel like if Love asks to get traded, (which I think he will and despite that, he has been in rumours all year), then the Cavs will want to get an all-star for him. If the Clips offer Griffin, I cant really see them saying no. One specific area he helps them is his passing. Griffin is a much better facilitator than Love, especially out of the post, so Kyrie and Lebron could work off the ball a lot more.

RE Jarrett Jack being too old and crap. He would be coming off the bench playing 15-18 mins per game. Would fit him perfectly being in the last few years of his career, and would also be a great leader for the second unit. Also, he averaged 13ppg, 4rpg and 7apg this year. I would love a player like that to run my second unit. In terms of trading Crawford, he is 36 years old. I highly doubt he will be able to keep up his current play for another season. When father time approaches in the NBA, it hits players hard and in a hurry. Crawford also hurts the Clips A LOT on the defensive end. When he is off the court, their defence was 4.2 points/100 possessions better off.

In the end, they need to try something new. What they are doing now, and have been doing for years, isn’t getting them past the second round of the playoffs, and in reality, why would it in the future?

How the Los Angeles Clippers can achieve their first NBA Championship

Haha that website is great, look at how many scenarios they have run!! Could be the best way to get an answer on the Curry question. Weekend planned.

The NBA's Championship standard: Crunching the numbers

Haha I don’t think he could handle the public backlash if he went. Imagine that, after saying Kobe being at LA was not the reason he rejected LA’s offer, to then go and play for LA when Kobe leaves…would be great, really.

Agree, Pop’s crew (and OKC for that matter) was resting while the Warriors were grinding. Has to take somewhat of a toll.

#matrices for the win Ryan. Yep, I think they will get it done in 5 against the blazers, just too many weapons. Would be so good to have a control group of the warriors without Curry play the whole season. I really do think they would win 50 games.

The NBA's Championship standard: Crunching the numbers

Yep I hope he comes back. I really don’t think we have ever seen two utterly dominate (yet different) teams go up against each other in any conference finals. Would be a shame if injuries decided it.

Thanks Patrick, anything that combines matrices with, well anything, I find pretty interesting!

For my tip, I am going to with the Spurs (Spurs supporter). I think that if Curry misses only one game, Spurs can pinch that one in Golden State and then they gain home court advantage. And when both teams lose a combined 3 (I think) games at home during the season, I reckon that will decide it.
