You’re kind of backing up my point, Spiro has never been able to take the emotion out of it. I’m not saying anything is his fault, just that there are more credible people out there with more intelligent arguments than they’ve done a few more rolling mauls than other teams.

Is there anyone with a less credible, less objective view on the Brumbies than Spiro? This is a guy who claimed in a SMH column that Brumbies fans were hooligans, compared them with Millwall fans, then when asked on ABC radio how many games in Canberra he’d actually been to sheepishly admitted it was zero. It’s been going on for years.
I think we can leave it to the people who don’t seem to have a personal vendetta against one of the teams to talk about which teams, if any, to cut.

I had the honour of “meeting” Pat in Hamilton before the 2013 final against the Chiefs and after he’d injured his neck the second time against the Lions. Just asked him for a quick photo and how his neck was going, expecting a quick “yeah good thanks” (which would have been fine). Instead he launches off into a full breakdown of his recovery, he’s been back on the exercise bike, thanks me for asking etc etc. Shame he only got one more year of playing after that.

Even during the brief time after Pocock scored that I assumed we’d get the conversion and go ahead, I still thought the Stormers would come back and win it. Not that I wasn’t disappointed he didn’t get it and give us a chance mind you, but it doesn’t take much imagination to picture the Stormers kicking a droppie there at the end of the game for the win.

Have heard Loftus is fairly epic, would have loved to have been there a couple of years ago for the Brumbies semi. I’ll have to organise that for the next visit, with Uber as my exit strategy this time.

What added to it being “sleep inducing”, and what you could pick up on sitting at the ground, was the sense of apathy from the batsmen running between wickets during that period. So many singles could have been twos etc. So I can definitely see what Brett is driving at there, it was a little bit frustrating.
