I lived in the so called heartland of nz league for 25 years, and what im telling you is the poll is not representative of the public opinion, based on my experiences there and evidence of skewing by australian league followers.

You are clearly the one spinning things Renegade, I said 4 out of 20 teams who have struggled. All the rest have been competitive in most of thier games. And do you seriously think some of the anti union guys on here and LU are above doing that, especially when they are encouraging it to be done? I know for a fact 60% of the people i know would not vote that way – and I come from south auckland – leagues only “heartland”.

There is generally 4 teams out of 20 who have struggled, most games have been competative and great to watch, and the have already been huge upsets. Its not a “Mickey Mouse” world cup, no matter how you put a spin on it.
And union struggling to attract new fans? Read the opinion section of the NZ herald, and you will see articles from people who have never watched rugby saying how they have been screaming at the TV and getting excited over games involving the likes of canada…. Or you can just have a look at the attendances for the Reds this year. Or you can just stop trolling.

It is a real shame the wallabies will not in all likelyhood meetthe AB’sin the final, that would have been massive forthegame in this part of the world. Unfortunately I can see a SA NZ semifinal, which I will be very nervous aboutasan AB’s fan. Then an anticlimax final, unless its the AB’s french, then il be nervous again!

Its not being shown in the RUGBY WORLD CUP FAN ZONE because of contractural reasons, and fair enough! the government is setting up another fan zone in Manukau specifically for the league to get around the issue.

Also, it was for people aged above 15, so really the number was closer to 3 million, but id say most kids would have been glued to the tv at home aswell. The link is below. Yep, thats why i said average. 22k in the only game played there in years is different to 13 games every year. Id say an average of 7k is even opptimistic.
